After traveling with our own toddler, here are my top 7 tips for airplane travel with a 1 year old.
- Expect the Worst
Prepare as much as you can, but also expect the worst. There is a chance your 1 year old will cry a lot. - Screentime
Load up a phone or tablet with videos to watch. - Favorites
Many people say to bring new toys to help entertain your child on a child, but I suggest bringing your child’s favorite books (paperback versions, if possible). - Be Prepared
Pack at least 1 extra outfit and 2-3 more diapers then you think you need, you never know if something will be delayed. - Gate Checking
Gate checking strollers is great, cause you can use it to help schlepp through the airport. Curious about gate checking? Check out information on your airline here. - Elevation Changes
Breastfeeding or drinking water helps keep the ears okay. - Low Expectations
Anticipate that baby won’t sleep, but they might.
