We traveled to Europe with our 6 month old. I can’t imagine not having an extra seat, but we didn’t pay for it and got lucky on both flights. For me, it’s worth the gamble as I didn’t want to spend $$ on a seat for baby. I think if you could guarantee the bulkhead and bassinet (call as soon as you book your ticket) that would be enough space.
We didn’t use a car seat on our trip at all so it would not have been worth it to lug with us just for the flight.
We used the UppaBaby Minu which was great and very foldable.
The Solly Baby Wrap was a lifesaver for getting through security and naps on the plane. TSA made me unwrap my sleeping daughter from the Solly wrap (I was randomly selected for screening, so that’s probably why).
